Investigator Trail | From September Beach to Carcase Rock

Port Lincoln National Park, South Australia

Wind-lashed and utterly deserted, this wild stretch of coastline is one of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever witnessed.

We hiked alone, save for an emu who, with quiet grace, chose to walk beside us for a time. Three solitary beings on the southern edge of the world.

We kept a respectful distance, but there was an unspoken companionship, a shared silence that felt sacred. The ocean roared beside us, relentless and ancient. And like the waves sculpting the cliffs, my thoughts returned to archetype — the invisible architecture of human experience.

The Healer

This is the soul’s pilgrimage: to unplug, to return, to feel the earth beneath bare feet and remember what we are made of. The forest bathes the psyche. The sea washes the mind. We dive with turtles and whales; swim in waters where sharks glide, not with fear, but reverence — visiting sacred ecosystems where life moves slowly, wisely, without the noisy panic of civilization.

But it is The Sage who speaks loudest on this journey. That ancient traveler, the one who walks not to arrive, but to understand. The one who looks to the stars and asks:

Why am I here? What is my task? What will remain when I am gone?

Solitude in nature is the rarest kind of wealth. It grants me space to think, to listen, to wonder. These trails are both physical and inward. As we trek across coastlines and across continents, I also travel inward — a nomad of meaning.

Yesterday, I ordered the next three books need for Summer session as I pursue my PhD. I’ll collect them in Melbourne, continuing my studies from the road. Psychology, after all, is the story of us — our dreams, our wounds, our truths. I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my beloved partner — kind, brilliant, adventurous.

This shared life IS the great journey. Everything else is a footnote.
